I took office as finance minister after the collapse of the Cruzado Plan, in May 1987, in the worst financial crisis since 1930. I elaborated a "Macroeconomic Control Plan", essayed to control high inertial inflation through the Bresser Plan, and proposed a general solution to the debt crisis based on the securitization of it that later became the Brady Plan, I resigned in December 1987 for lack of support in making fiscal adjustment.
